Mr Panday’s reaction to the political defeat which he has sustained suggests that he is still in a state of shock and denial, and that he has not yet fully accepted the fact that he has lost the mandate of heaven... In assessing Mr Panday’s reaction, we need to recall that he does not believe that maximum political leaders should be challenged by mere mortals. He once remarked that ’in Caribbean parties, some ’jackass’ always challenges the leadership’.
