A ture leader would have ensured that succession planning was in place, especially considering the UNC's failure to attract support and increase seats under his leadership. No leader can go anywhere in dignity once that leader has cussed everyone who stands up for change. No leader who cannot realise that he has failed those who he leads can ever go out in dignity. Instead of going out in dignity, this leader would have to go out as a hated man.
