Kamla Persad-Bissessar's message at a speech Saturday night was that while people might still think that Basdeo Panday can get them back into government, the reality is that her leader is no longer capable.
And she used the analogy of a high end vehicle trying to get to its destination but lacks the fuel to get there.
It's not clear if she was endorsing Jack Warner. Here's what she said:
"My brothers and sisters let me ask you this question. You have a Mercedes or a BMW and you want to get to Port of Spain.
"And half way there you shut down because you run out of gas. How you going to get to Port of Spain? You not getting there.
"So even if Mr. Panday is the Mercedes he not going to get you to Port of Spain because he run out of fuel. The gas run out. The car shut down and now you have stand in the road and try to get a ride while everybody passing you straight.
"Even you friends passing you because you treat them bad and chase them away. And then some good Samaritan feel sorry and bring a lil gas for you. And you start up again.
"And then you get a flat. You stop again. And when you go to fix the tyre so you go again. You have no jack.
"You have no jack so you not getting anywhere. And when you check for your spare tyre, it flat. So that is where we are, my brothers and sisters.
"First you shut down for gas, then you have no jack, and your spare tyre flat. That is the UNC Mercedes heading to Whitehall. It not getting there. It going nowhere because even if you have a JACK, the spare tyre flat.
That is the team you getting from my opponents."
