Letter: Movement for Change led the way for free and fair election

Please permit me a space to express my views.

As a member of the UNC party, I hold my party card with great humility and respect.

On January 24th the people would have spoken.

Whatever the outcome of the elections on January 24th it would be worth it whoever became victorious.

The thread of Obama’s appeal came from a powerful philosophy of change that touched the hearts and minds of every generation.

Together the people voted for change and a new era of politics began in the USA.

Mr. Warner has been the leader of the Movement for Change campaign here in our very country mobilizing others to join his cause.

I want to congratulate the MP for Chaguanas West on not just the outstanding contribution he has made in this constituency but in setting a new direction for the party.

Mr. Warner, you fought for internal elections and you succeeded.

It’s because of your wherewithal that I can go on January 24th and vote for who can take this party forward.

Thank you for leading the path with the Movement for Change in the party.

You ran a strong campaign despite resistance and empowered others to seek change.

The movement for change made us feel truly invested in something bigger, a new political way of life. It gave the youths a forum to air their views.

Regardless of the outcome I am assured of one thing, elections on January 24th will be free and fair. A victory in its own right.

It’s time to heal our beautiful Trinidad and Tobago and not seek power but bring about fundamental change.

Change has to come and change will come on January 24th.
