COP demands investigation of UDeCOTT

The Congress of the People (COP) has given the acting Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Roger Gaspard 96 hours to investigate the Urban Development Corporation of Trinidad and Tobago (UDeCOTT).

COP executive member Vernon De Lima made the disclosure at COP’s Flagship House office in Woodbrook Friday.

De Lima wants an investigation into the award by UDeCOTT of a contract to CH Development and Construction Ltd to build the Ministry of Legal Affairs tower for $368,902,830.

"The Letter of Award from UDeCOTT to CH Development, dated April 2005, was sent from the UDeCOTT fax machine to Calder Hart’s private fax number then to Sunway Construction," the party said in a media release.

"The CH Development fax number (624-8239) has been registered in the name of Calder Hart for 22 years at his home at 6 De Lima Road, Cascade, and was cancelled six days after Mr Rowley was fired from the Cabinet," it added.

The release said the incorporators and directors of CH Development are Lee Hup Ming, brother of Calder Hart’s wife, Sherrine Hart, and Ng Chin Poh, brother-in-law of Sherrine Hart.

"If corroboratory evidence is required as to the family connections of Calder Hart, then the Director of Public Prosecutions should require Interpol be engaged to obtain the birth certificates of Sherrine Hart and her brothers and sisters," the release said.

De Lima called for a domestic audit and forensic audit which should take the investigators to Malaysia.
