Jack Warner announced on Thursday the appointment of Sunil Ramjitsingh as the Interim Chairman of the Couva North Management Committee of the UNC-Alliance Movement for Change. Ramjitsingh, a former journalist, is currently a Media, Communications and Research Specialist. He is the former Communications Officer to former Leader of the Opposition Kamla Persad-Bissessar and current Leader of the Opposition Basdeo Panday.
Commenting on the appointment, Ramjitsingh said the Interim Executive will be incorporated by the end of this month and the body will comprise representatives of the various communities within Couva North.
It will seek to work with the people of those communities to find solutions to the problems affecting the residents. Where appropriate, the committee will be coordinating strategies to make representation to the authorities for implementation of these solutions, particularly with regard to roads, drainage, flooding and crime.
In making the announcement at a political meeting in Waterloo Thursday night Warner remarked that a lack of representation in Couva North prompted his move to set up an office there.
He added, "That is why tonight we introduce you to the Interim chairman of the Couva North constituency, a young and hard working individual who is now working among you to remind you what true representation is all about."
