The Trinidad and Tobago government and the opposition are scheduled to meet Wednesday afternoon at the Red House for consultations on the Evidence (Amendment) Bill.
It's the second time in three weeks that the two sides have met to discuss crime. The first meeting on Dec. 3 was between Prime Minister Patrick Manning and Opposition leader Basdeo Panday of Manning.
Opposition Chief Whip Dr Hamza Rafeeq will lead the opposition team; government House leader Colm Imbert will head the other team. It's not clear if the two leaders will be present at Wednesday's talks.
The bill is meant to allow audio and video-recorded evidence in the courts.
It requires a three-fifths majority to pass. That's 25, which means it could pass without opposition support and even if PNM member Keith Rowley votes against it.
