Police are interrogating five suspects in the murder of German engineer Peter Taut, 49, whose body was discovered in a shallow grave in Tobago over the weekend.
The five include a 13-year-old.
Taut's murder has made headlines in the international media. A report by the Associated Press said Taut's body was found Sunday night in a shallow grave at his home in the neighbourhood of Bacolet along Tobago's southern coast.
It noted that it is in the same neighbourhood were a British couple was attacked with a machete in August. Local media reported that Taut was an engineer who had been
living in Tobago for several years.
Police says Taut's hands and feet were bound and he was bound and gagged. They believe he was buried shortly after the murder.
The Tourism Secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly (THA) told local media the THA plans to install cameras at crime hot spots in Tobago. Oswald Williams said Cameras are already in around Scarborough and environs.
President of the Hotel and Tourism Association Carol Ann Birchwood James called the murder "sad and tragic" but added that she is comforted that the police have detained persons in connection with the matter.
