A new business group was launched Monday morning in Trinidad that links the business community in Trinidad and Tobago with its counterpart in India.
And it has the blessing of India's High commissioner to Port of Spain, Malay Mishra, and the Trinidad and Tobago High Commissioner to India, Maniedeo Persad.
The idea of the India/Trinidad and Tobago Chamber of Commerce (ITTCIC) came from Trinidad-born businessman and engineer Deo Gosine, who lives in New York.
Gosine has been commuting between both countries to establish connections and market the idea. He believes there are unprecedented opportunities for business between the two countries because of their historic connection and the state of global commerce.

Members hope the chamber will foster business ventures, technology transfer, and direct foreign investment in Trinidad and Tobago and it will be a vehicle and forum for the promotion of trade and commerce between the two countries.
They also expect that the close association between businesses in both countries will facilitate the transfer of technology in the areas of health care, data processing, agriculture and light manufacturing industries to Caricom nations.
Businessman Ram Bissoon, who is a board member, has told JYOTI that one aim of the chamber is to straighten cultural links with India.
