Brunton is new Caribbean Airlines CEO

Caribbean Airlines (CAL) announced Monday that Ian Brunton will be the airline's new CEO, effective October 15.

He succeeds Briton Philip Saunders who has resigned to return to the United Kingdom.

The announcement on CAL's website says Brunton started his aviation career about 47 years ago in the British Royal Air Force.

He has held senior positions in the State Safety Oversight system and was the first chairman of the Trinidad and Tobago Civil Aviation Authority.

Brunton has been the executive vice-president and chief operating officer of Caribbean Airlines since the airline’s inception in January 2007.

He is a former board member of BWIA and a former chairman of the T&T Airline Pilots’ Association (Talpa).

Brunton holds a Bachelor and Master of Laws degrees from the University of London and is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
