The government of Trinidad and Tobago plans to spend $44 billion in fiscal year 2009/2010. The projected deficit is $7.7 billion or 5.3 per cent of GDP.
The figure was announced Monday afternoon in the House of Representatives by Finance Minister Karen Nunez-Tesheira.
She told the house the budget is based on an oil price of US$55 a barrel and a gas price of US$2.75. (click here for live oil price monitor)
