A report from the African Press Agency says Trinidad and Tobago's High Commissioner to Nigeria announced on Thursday that her country is willing to invest in the power, oil and gas sectors in Nigeria.
Victoria Mendez-Charles made the announcement when she led a team of nine companies from Trinidad and Tobago and two representatives of the South Trinidad Chamber of Industry and Commerce to Port Harcourt, the agency said.
The Trinidad and Tobago’s mission to Port Harcourt is part of its business prospecting visit to Ghana and Nigeria.
The diplomat explained that Trinidad and Tobago is "a global powerhouse in the oil and gas sector".
She said, “We are now the largest exporter of ammonia in the world, we have 11 ammonia plants in our country, we have seven methanol plants, and we are the largest exporter of methanol in the world.
“The model for the utilisation of gas is called the Trinidad model and it is known worldwide,’’ the High Commissioner added.
The President of the Port Harcourt Chamber urged the investors to take a keen interest in other areas of business for possible collaboration, including a possible partnership in the forthcoming carnival in Port Harcourt.
