UNC deputy leader Jack Warner has confirmed that he has bought the BLAST weekly tabloid newspaper in Trinidad and he should take charge of the paper by the end of the month.
He is buying the defunct weekly from Rabindranath Maharaj, the brother of Warner's parliamentary colleague Ramesh L. Maharaj, and other shareholders. His plan is to revive the paper and eventually create another daily paper in Trinidad and Tobago.
The BLAST ceased publication last month due to failing circulation and advertising sales.
Rabindranath Maharaj and late veteran journalist Irwin Sandy started the BLAST in 1984 after both men left the Bomb newspaper.
