Panday congratulates youth

The leader of the United National Congress (UNC) Basdeo Panday has written to the party Youth Congress, congratulating them for their maturity and responsible actions in dealing with matters of urgent concern.

Panday wrote from Scotland, where he is visiting his eldest daughter.

Here is Panday's unedited email to the youth:

Dear Young Soldiers of the UNC,

My heartiest congratulations to you on the most successful conference of the Youth Arm of the UNC ever. You make me proud.

Your success is indicative of the power of the youths of the UNC to overcome and defeat the antagonists of the UNC.

I have read some of the e-mail by those who wished your conference to fail. But your courage and determination have been exemplary. You are, indeed, shining beacon showing the way for other youths of our country to follow.

The Scottish weather is cold, damp and gloomy but the news of your success have filled my heart with warmth and sunshine.

Remember always: No one kicks a dead dog; and they only pelt stones at a mango tree that is laden with sweet fruit. The greater the attacks upon you and the UNC the greater the sign that they fear you.
