They set fire to a truck and used it along to block off Picton Road, Laventille. They told reporters they were acting on ordered from a gang leader.
Residents say they have no problem with an increased police and army presence but they complaint is about "high handed" action by the security personnel.The tension in the area began mounting on Carnival Tuesday following the killing of a soldier. Andy Boucaud, 28, was found murdered outside his home in Africa. Now people are saying in the hunt for the killer the army and police are going too far.
The Trinidad Expressed quoted a man as saying the police "started sharing licks at some of them youths in the area....people are tired of the abuse and today they just couldn't take it anymore."
