Businessman shot and killed; police kill two suspects, arrest a third

Police in central Trinidad on Friday shot and killed two men suspected of murdering a businessman, according to a report in the Trinidad Express.
 
The paper said a man shot and killed 45-year-old businessman Darren Shane Painter during at robbery at Painter's business place in Cunupia and then fled in a getaway car, which police found abandoned a short time later. The report said three people were in the car used for the escape.

The newspaper said then men escaped in another car and were travelling south on the Solomon Hochoy Highway with police in pursuit. They abandoned that vehicle just before the Preysal overpass and escaped into the nearby buhes. 

The report said police followed them and in an exchange of gunfire the lawmen fatally found two of the men, who were pronounced dead when they were taken to nearby Chaguanas health Facility. They arrested the third man.
