COP Chiarman Joseph Toney - new PATT Chairman |
Maharaj said on Wednesday that he has introduced Toney to the board of the PATT although the COP chairman has not yet received his intruments of appointment.
Maharaj told the board, “With the new synergy between the incoming chairman and board, I am optimistic there will be a new, dynamic board which will work towards the success of the authority.”
Toney replaces Clive Spencer, who was fired by Maharaj. The minister said he had no confidence in the former chairman. Spencer was handed the Port chairmanship under line minister Jack Warner, who previously held the transport portfolio.
Toney told local media he looks forward to receiving the instrument of appointment and pledged to "chart a course for efficient working of the Port Authority.” He said that includes an end to complaints about travel, whether for personal reasons, or for trade.
